Stage Technologies has supplied equipment for numerous cruise ships built by Fincantieri in Italy. However, in 2001 we received our first order to supply equipment for cruise ships to be built for Princess Cruises by Chantier d’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France. These ships were smaller versions of the Princess ‘Grand’ class that were being built at the time in Italy and Japan and were dubbed ‘Baby grands’.
In the Princess Theatres, we supplied the overstage power flying systems, plus the automation systems for all machinery (including third party equipment) totalling 58 automated axes as follows:
• Acrobat control console
• Solo handheld controllers
• Drive cabinets
• 23 BigTow winches
• Stage Technologies TanJent guidance system
In the Explorers Lounges, we supplied the automation systems:
• Curtain tracks
• Rotating thrust stages
• Projection screens
The Universe Lounge is a highly versatile two-deck-high space with a system of three revolving stages and elevators that creates a very flexible venue. This is shown as a separate case study due to its uniqueness.
